Top places to visit near Ganpatipule and Jambharun
As a part of our 3 days trip to Jambharun (Blog Post :Hidden Gem - Jambharun), we had one day planned to visit the nearby places. Among them was Ganpatipule, which is significantly known for the revered Ganpati temple on the beach.
I will list out the places to visit near Ganpatipule and Jambhrun in this post. Jambhrun is kind of a center point to all these locations, so you can start from one end and circle back to your homestay in Jambharun.
1. Lakshmi Keshav Mandir,Kolisare
Keshav Lakshmi idol |
This was the highlight of all the locations that we visited. It had
the same vibes when we visited Keshavraj temple in Karde(Post:Keshavarja Temple|Karde|Dapoli) . The surrounding is lush green, silent and peaceful. The
construction style of temple resembles to most constructions done
during 4th-6th century.
But
the most significant part is the idol, its a beautiful, intricately
carved Keshav, Lakshmi and Garud idols in a single block. Its even
more mesmerizing to watch it during Abhishek time. I would recommend
people to visit before 10am here, so you can take darshan of the
murti during abhishek.

History of Keshav Lakshmi temple
The Keshav Lakshmi idol is said to be approximately 1500-1600 year old(5th-6th century) .As per the temple authority, it is said the idol was kept safely in the Rankala lake in Kolhapur and one day God himself appeared in a person's dream and told him to move the idol elsewhere, that's when while traveling to Konkan it was established in Kolisare village.

2.Ganpatipule
This place doesn't need an introduction to Maharashtrians, as this is famous for the Swayambhu Ganpati idol which is said to have sprung up from soil. It is also famous because the temple is located on the sea shore, hence the name "Ganpati"-"Pule(sand dune)".
The temple has visitors all round the year, so you
would rarely find this beach and temple empty. The Ganpatipule beach
has beautiful golden sand with mangroves on the west. Although the
beach is not quite safe to take a dip, due to the rocky topography
near shore, the waves hit hard and sea is quite rough due to it.
Having said that, there are many hotels, restaurants nearby the shore
where you can relax post taking darshan.

4. Marleshwar Temple and Waterfall
Marleshwar Waterfall |
This is again one of the very famous locations in Amba Ghat. It is known for its majestic waterfall and an old Shiva temple which is a cave turned into temple. Somehow places in and around Amba ghat and Warandha ghat are similar. This location is again almost exact replica of Shivthar Ghal. It is located in remote location and surrounded by Sahyadri hills on all four sides and is covered by dense vegetation.

The cave/temple is located on top of a hill and requires a small trek and walk 520 steps to reach. There are refreshments available all along the way, so if you have kids or elderly people or health issue or tired, there are many options available.

The Shiva temple is quite old and the village people were not sure how old it was but certainly older than 300-400 year. The temple has direct access to the Marleshwar waterfall but it was closed when we had visited. Its amazing to see the Sahyadri mountains surrounding and the water gushing through the valley.
While on way back after we reached at the footsteps, we
stopped at one of the hotels which is run by the locals. We had
Junakha-Bhakri for lunch along with buttermilk. After trekking in the
hot sun, it was very relaxing to sit in that hotel with view and sound
of river flowing through the valley.

5. Rajwadi Hot water spring
We covered this while returning back to Pune from Jambhrun as it lies on the way back on Mumbai-Goa highway. Distance from Jambhrun - 48km This village lies near Sangameshwar and has a temple which is around 400-500 year old. Apart from the hot water spring, the significance of this place is the carving on wood of this temple. It has a 2-headed Eagle picking up elephants, depicting the victory of the conqueror over the residing king. The carving depicts complete story of the war that might have happened at that place to take over the reigns from a strong ruler.
