Tarkarli Beach - A serene beach destination
This was a trip that we had been planning for long time.We had all hotel booking done prior in Visava Beach Resort,Tarkarli.
We had planned this trip because it was said Tarkarli is one of the cleanest and best beach in Maharashtra and India. Also another important reason was Scuba diving, this is the only place where we can do this.
We were so excited for this trip that we had all the bookings done 3 months prior.
Day 1:
So we started on Saturday from Pune early morning by car as this was to be my first all solo driving for such a long distance(approx 420km one way).
We chose Kolhapur-Gaganbawda route while going. The road till Gaganbawda was very good(reached at 12 took some rest, pics) and we were probable thinking why people dont choose this route, which is when the worst route started 😜.
The roads in Gaganbawda Ghat were in horrible state, almost 20-30km patch only pits no road.
Once crossed this patch the roads were quite good, we reached Tarkarli by 4.30pm and entered Visava Beach Resort, but to our surprise it was different hotel than we had chosen. This is hotel at Chivla beach near to Tarkarli, so we had to again re route and then we reached our destination finally at 5pm.Exhausted of driving through the pits this was great relief. The hotel was very nice as suggested in pictures, close to the beach.
Day 2:
We took 2-wheeler on rent for day(350/day) to enjoy roads and the climate rather than traveling by car. This was a good decision as we could roam many places and cover almost all of Malvan,Deobaug and Tarkarli.
Lunch we dropped at MTDC restaurant, as I had read reviews of delicious food and we were not disappointed. The food was so delicious that 4 people ate what 8 people would have.Fish(Surmai and poplet) and solkadi specially, we kept ordering. So we took rest for the afternoon and went off to Deobaug in evening at 4.30.
Deobaug basically is beach from where we can go to Tsunami Island and enjoy water sports, do boating. We had decided to just visit Tsnuami island and do boating. It takes 1 hours to and fro and an additional 1 hour is given for us to enjoy there. We reached Sangam which is place where Arabian sea and Karli backwater met and you could clearly see the point where they meet.
It was quite dark till the time we reached Deobaug again, so we just took sip of tea to get refreshed and retired to our rooms as we were excited for Scuba diving next day.
Day 3:
We had done booking for Scuba online to avoid waiting, although it was off season and there was no rush.We started off early at 8.30am reached Sindhudurg and got ourselves ready for it.We were taken near the fort wall for diving as they said that spot was main area having best marine life.I was the first to dive in and to everyone's surprise I started off as soon as I took a dip.The instructor took me almost 25-30ft deep. This was superb experience, as you can only hear your breathing bubbles nothing else. You forget everything else when you are down there.
We then went to Chaitanya hotel in Malvan which again was referred through many reviews.Although it wasnt as good as MTDC but the food was delicious and again we ate as if we were hungry for 2 days 🤪
We retired back to hotel, took rest and in the evening went for Ayurvedic massage near MTDC.It was very relaxing and you feel rejuvenated after this.Must try for all.
Day 4:
It was returning time for us and we felt we needed 1 more day.We went to beach early morning and had breakfast and left back. The hotel staff was very helpful and the food was also very good.It is 2nd best as far as I have seen hotels in Tarkarli other than MTDC resort.
This time we took route from Sawantwadi-Gadhinglaj-Nipani phata and this was superb road, dint feel anything driving through this road.
I would suggest 3 complete days stay in tarkarli as we wasted 1 day of ours travelling.
This is a must trip for people who are looking for beach, rest, peace from hustle bustle, romantic time with your loved one or even good family time.
Your comments and feedback would help me come up with more better travel blogs :)
